This does not butcher your average rank in any way, because negative scores do not record.

Say I'm a minute into the song and miss or don't perfect. Then I want to restart, failing on purpose does not make my score negative. Although that is helpful, because I did not know that negative scores did not record.

That wouldn't botch your average rank. Only scores that are better than your score can lower rank. Ranks never raise on songs.

You might be talking about just average score per game, which no one measures anyway.

In that case, you could use the velocity beta engine, (link in the upper left dropdown under "FFR the Beta") where you can press '/' to restart and 'ctrl' to immediately fail out.

There is indeed a restart/quit feature in the Velocity engine. You can't do this in the old Legacy engine (in that one, you'll have to deliberately make boos/misses in order to quit). This doesn't affect your avarage rank in any way, but it does add Boos and Misses to your daily stats on your profile. :P

                Re: Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ]

Maybe it's useful if I point out that the Avarage Rank is not the avarage rank you get by every game you play; it is the avarage of the best ranks you have achieved on every song (see also: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/levelrank.php; your avarage rank is the sum of all your ranks of all songs divided by 934). If you screw up a song and fail on purpose, your best rank on the song doesn't change, therefore your AvRank doesn't either. :3

I will submit a new version of the FAQ when I have the time. In the meantime, please continue to post your questions here, so I can scrap second-nature answers and replace them with newer questions.

Many other people have had a similar issue, as posted here:
                      http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=120731

You may wish to send a PM to the admin, Velocity. He will hopefully be able to fix the problem for you; just let him know what song you tried to buy, and what song you actually got.

                        Really useful thread. Thanks.

It seems a little outdated in some bits, but still makes complete sense to read as a newbie here and it helped me to understand everything better.

It really depends on the laptop. You should Open notepad and try tol find a comfortable combination that works for you.

Common ones are: as kl, sd kl, df kl, zx nm, zx ./

An awkward one I found to work for myself is sd op. But I don't know how comfortable that would be for anyone playing standard spread.

i unlocked one (.. or two.. or something) and so the little pop up box came up and was like press f5 and so i did and nothing happened. how do A) access it, b) use it, c) get more?

btw... ive never owned a ps3, xbox, nintendo... any gaming system before. so I really never have played games, that why im not exactly... game-speak intelligent. haha
