Is there anyway to not have the splitscreen during online play, and just have my normal single screen? Having a cramped screen with another player makes me play bad and looking at his score is really distracting.

No, you can't do that. But it is a good suggestion. Maybe it will be implemented later on.

That's a good suggestion or you could only have the opponent's score shown up.

you could make your screen go in half to only see yours. yeah great suggestion, it might help lags on mp to.

It shouldn't because the computer doesn't have to work for what isn't showing up.
