I've been a member for a while now but I've never really explored the site/played much until recently. What is the garbage bin for and why do I feel as though if I post in there I will be massively flamed? o.O

Okay, completely serious post incoming.

TGB is supposed to be something of a "no-rules" section: posts don't have to contribute anything, threads can be about absolutely nothing, things like that. The regulars use that to their advantage by posting Internet-brand humor, such as posts consisting only of a word or two, or of a variation of a previous post or something like that.

Anyone who doesn't use Internet-brand humor in TGB is flamed and Gbanned, because that's what TGB is for.

Also, don't go in there expecting to be able to do what everyone else does and be appreciated for it. Almost anything the regulars do is considered "funny" or acceptable, but if a random person does the same thing, it's seen as pointless and Gban-worthy.

It's a nice place to lurk if you want some light humor (or go into This Looks Shopped for some pretty freaking hilarious things), but as for posting, I wouldn't recommend it in most cases. There are certain situations where you can get away with posting, but using the same "style" as the regulars almost guarantees you a Gban, and certainly results in flaming.

definitely not friendly to most people. i go in there every once in awhile and post just to see the GBTorch directed at me. it's fun sometimes.

post if you're brave, but otherwise stay out.

The garbage bin is actually a really great place. If you're not funny, you can post stuff that's totally not funny there and people will call it funny. If you do, however, post something funny, people will call it totally unfunny. But, it's great if you have a low self-esteem for your sense of (bad) humor.
