Hey guys. My name is Lance. I'm new to this site and to these forums. I've been on forums before but none quite this big. I'm actually have some problems with my profile. It says updating for my credits. Its been saying this for awhile now. What do I have to do to fix this problem?

I don't think you can do anything to fix this yourself. It has been doing the same thing off an on for me, so it's probably on FFR's part.

Basically its a downloadable and much better (NOT SAYING FFR SUCKS) version of FFR. The website is www.stepmania.com and you can download song files for it here in the simfile database. If you do decide to download it and need help installing songs/noteskins/themes/whatever, theres probably a guide somewhere in the forums here.

Edit: You can also find videos of people playing Stepmania in the "Stepmania videos" section of the Video Database here if you want a better idea without having to download anything first.

I use stepmania as a primary source for making your own stepfiles. It's quite fun to make your own stepfiles, because you can play your favorite songs that way. It's complicated but worthwhile.

Few tips on being new: Don't become too good too fast. Get some reliable buddies to help you out. Have a decent password. Don't annoy good/famous/popular players. Don't lose a finger playing this game 12 hrs straight or more...

nah, i dont plan on annoying anyone. this forum is so big, it seems like it would be impossible to keep in touch with people. and its a little too late for me not to play the game 12 hoiurs straight haha. its almost a sin of me playing it this much.

im definitely going to check into stepmania. ill download it for sure. thanks guys. wish i knew your names haha.

ok. i downloaded stepmania. are there any sites where i can download like heavy rock/metal, or whatever types of songs besides the default techno funk songs they already have on the main sites?

A random source of many stepfiles are up above in the simfile db at the top of the page, next to statistics. Search for a name or author and download the file by clicking on the name in the list. You can also download from www.stepmania.com itself. www.otakusdream.com only provides anime songs. You can also just make your stepfiles by importing mp3s through the sm package program. If you can't find steps for a certain song, and you don't want to step it yourself, ask someone to step it for you (Like me). They'll need the mp3s though.
