Yeah...basically if for "best rank" it shows a zero, then it is sightread.
Or maybe you started the song on your first try, missed the first note or something, then next try AAAed, that might still be considered a sightread AAA, because it is you first time playing all of the way through the song.

"sightread" has absolutely nothing to do with whether you have the sound on or not. It is a term from music which describes when you are playing a song having never seen it before at all, so that you are "reading" the notes "by sight" entirely and not from having ever played it before.

People were still having the "This or that" discussion, and nobody had explicitly said "The term comes from this" and were instead describing it only in the context of its use on FFR. I apologise if you think the more complete explanation was a waste.

Sightread is playing a song by looking at the arrows and react to it rather than knowing the patterns (pretty much the first time you play).

I find it astonishing that a this thread lasted over ten posts in spite of the fact that this question could have easily been asked in MP or could have been easily answered in a single post.
