Depends how you mean "edit a song"

You can edit stepfiles on songs you have on Stepmania. So to edit a song that is on the site here somewhere, you would need to download stepmania, get a copy of the stepfile from the site, and do your editing in stepmania.

Of course...you could then only play your new edited version on stepmania, or upload it into the simfile database.

If you mean editing a song on here that has been copyrighted by a band, techno group, etc., you would likely need to get permission.

Songs that have already been on here have been from the admins been given permission from the bands, techno groups, etc.
