How do you make a stepfile?

Can anyone point me in a direction. Do I need to download some application, or is it a flash-based program accessed from a URL?

I just make them with StepMania, from stepmania.com.

Okay! first of all I didn't know stepmania allowed such things, so thanks Doug and thanks Spenner for the link. ^^

Ok... Stepmania's on my pc, I stick a song in the song folder, launch the .exe file, go to edit song ( or something like that... ) and there's a white flashy writing saying "NO SONGS!"... can anyone help me out as to hot to make stepmania work?

Follow this, Dont mind the CVS part just make sure you get to the "stepmania/songs" folder. Also browse the stickies as well, most of your answers lie in front of you just takes a little searching

Nope, sorry. that doesn't answer my question... read the question before answering. I do not want to download a song with a stepfile. I want to make a stepfile for a song on my pc. "What do I do with the song so I can edit it on stepmania?"

You go to edit/sync songs and find wherever you saved the song in there. Is that what you wanted to know?

There are several simfile-creation programs outside of Stepmania, too, like ddreamstudio and Xstep. Check some of those out if you're uncomfortable with the Stepmania editor.
