    The Half Screen Scroll?!?

whats up with scrolling so you can only see half the screen? how is this helpful at all? i find it much harder to get a good PA with the screen scrolled, and it seems so unnessesary....i'm not really a newbie i just dont understand this trend.

By cutting off half of the screen, you give yourself half the time to react. At first, you scores will be worse, however, as you adjust to the changes, you'll pick up being able to play with half a screen, thus making your reaction time to arrows faster, and better overall.

i guess this makes sense when your practicing or whatever....but when your actually recording scores or videos or something, wouldn't you wanna go back to the full screen?

No. By cutting the screen, you are increasing your reaction time, therefore allowing you to read notes better, and hit them more accurately. By playing full screen, most people that screen cut have worse PA, because things seem too crowded and/or slow. I myself play with speedmods, AND a screencut, because .25 increments just isnt enough for me.

Cutting off half the screen quickens your reaction time. For some it is harder but for others it allows them to hit more notes and get perfects and whatever. It's kind of like the same concept as the Speed Mod (x1.0, x1.25, x1.5, etc) and the c200, c400, c500, c550 on StepMania.

Concept yes but it's far different.

Screen cutting decreases the amount of time you have to react to hitting the arrow. That gives the impression that the arrows are moving faster.

Speed mods actually move the arrows up faster while keeping the same beat.

Not to mention on the much harder songs, all those arrows on the bottome half get distracting as to what you have to hit.

                        Re: The Half Screen Scroll?!?

Like said already, it cuts down reaction time. Screencutting helps with harder songs because you see a lot less frames at once, therefore less notes, and it makes it clearer to the eyes. I can't even play full screen anymore because too many arrows distracts me, plus the whole psychological aspect when I hit a good or average It'll throw me off a bit and i'll start hitting them more often.
