I could use some help

I have started playing this yesterday, and have been playing some songs, and it feels like I'm just bashing my fingers against my arrow hoping I hit the right notes. I was wondering if there were and tips or tricks that could help me get better as a player. Please, retard proof everything.

Move your fingers really fast but be sure to hit the arrows.

Other than that, no, there is nothing you can do apart from practice and screenshrink if it helps you.
