    question kinda newb like...maybe

    well ive been playing since december and it occured to me that it is hard to tell exactally how good i am.

    I'm right on the edge of being able to play standards all the way through. I can full combo almost all very easy songs and i am very close with easy. This really isnt all that impressive I know but I was just curious how long people have played to get has good as they are. In essence a timeline for how good i should be on average would be nice.

    Also im curious to find out how to do other finger styles. right now i do the basic three finger set up with my middle finger on the up arrow etc. I wouldn't mind changing but i cant figure out anything effective

      Everyone's gonna say switch to spread.

      I did it and I beat every score I had before.

      You'll be fine. Don't worry about how good or bad you are. In no time you'll be able to see the difference in your playing for yourself

              I don't like spread. And I played SM for about 5 months before I joined this site and I can beat For Gurus Only songs.

                  By beat what do you mean? Can you FC any of them? Get top 100? Define your kind of "beat".

                          Took me around 4 months to get good and full combo heavy songs on Stepmania (Challenging on FFR I think). I play spread, and I got good fast. Switch. My brother (s0ulst0n3) is one handed but he won't listen to me when I say switch...and look at his ranks. If he was 2 handed, he would be able to AAA a bunch of songs by now. But he can only AAA beginner songs.

                          Switch, you won't regret it.

                              well you've been playing just a tad bit longer than i have...but ive played more games...so that's one reason my ranking is higher
                              but yea switching to spread is the best way to get better...something i still need to do. cuz i play 1 handed, 3 fingers...
                              i just still really suck at it
                              and to play spread...well just basically change the keys you use...lots of ppl use askl instead of arrows
