well practise is the obvious thing
like choose an easy song
but not one that's so easy it's boring
then get it so you get at least 95%
then with the same song cut the screen in half
so it's a song you're comfy with
but your reaction time speeds up

If you use one hand, you ought to try learning how to play with two to be faster if you don't already. Otherwise it's mostly just practice. Once you play enough you'll begin to recognize arrow patterns instantly and nail them simply from muscle memory.

The multiplayer is amazing for getting better. Try to find someone that's the same skill level or a little higher than you. The competition makes me a little better, but the main thing is just play. If your hand hurts after playing then you have to keep playing to get muscle.

And be diverse, playing the same song DOES NOT make you better. A couple times is ok but you need all the different styles of arrows that the songs throw at you.

Practice on stepmania. Once you can do DDR 10-footer songs download Keyboard Mega Pack and then practice on those songs. Once you've cleared all of those, FFR will be a piece of cake.

ok i can say one thing ie been cutting the screen in half for about 3 days but most of the time i hardly mak it through a song...

Screen cutting makes it easier because you can see the arrow patterns easier without overloading your senses to all the arrows on screen at time.
If you still don't understand, play SM with a slow scroll rate and you'll see it is kind of harder because all the arrows are smushed together. Also, you can't see too well where the scrolling arrows match the static arrows with a slow scroll rate.

Screen cutting is the same as increasing the scroll rate thereby alleviating the slow scroll rate.

I guess some people may not tell the difference.

Screenshrinking only works if you shrink to the right size. If you only have like 2 inches of the game, then yeah, you'll probably do worse. Just cut off a little bit at first and see if it helps. Then keep cutting until you're at a comfortable size.
