A question about who's better

My friend and I both play SMO and frequently run into a little problem. One of us gets a higher score while the other gets a higher rank. I understand that's just how the scoring works, meaning one of us has better timing while the other can just hit more/bigger combos.

Who do you guys think is better, the one who gets a higher score or the higher rank. Oh and their is never a big gap in scores.

The ultimate goal is to perfect a song. Full combing a song is the first step in doing that. Then you'll want to decrease boo's, averages and, goods. I think better rank is better. I think it means you can actually "perfect" the song. Do I make any sense at all?

Combos have nothing to do with score or rank, in any way, In StepMania. I believe the rank you get is a better description of how well you did, since score is much more highly based on how well you did near the end of the song.

Go by grade.

You could both get exactly, for example, 100 perfs and 10 greats on a song and still have different scores because a great at the start of a song is worth more points than a great at the end of a song.

I agree. The higher the rank the better the player.

Thanks guys. This has settled the debate between my friends and I. So I'm the better player (in most songs) cause my rank is typically higher and I almost always have less good, boos, and misses.
