Do I have to use index?

I'm getting to the point where I want to do the harder songs. I'm just not sure if my 2-handed style can do it even with extensive practice. When I say harder songs I'm talking about Fury of the Storm on challenge and similar difficulty songs. Will it just be easier to learn indes to do these songs, or is it quite possible to do with 2 hand without being a master of FFR?
This might no be the case if I were only faster with my left hand. Since I'm a righty my right hand can tab just as fast as index but my left hand is so much slower (about half speed).

Go with spread. Fury of the Storm is quite hard with index. Spread allows you to do more songs and you tend to be a lot faster using spread. Overall though, just practice. That's the only way to get good, just practice.

Yeah I know about the old "practice makes perfect" thing. I was just wondering if there was some cap to spread style. I figure I'll just learn whatever is the best on the tougher songs regardless of style difficulty. I have way to much free time on my hands and need something to occupy it with.
And I was just referenceing Fury of the Storm as an approximate difficulty level, not necesarily the kind of steps I'm expecting to encounter.

Spread > index in general, any rumors you hear saying the opposite were probably created by Arch0wl.

People say Index is much harder but it all depends on how you adjust to it and use your own way to get faster.

There are people who just use two middle fingers to play or even one hand for some of those unique people. There are many people with different styles, I use spread cause its just how I found it easier.

Yeah, devilution. Usually the left and down arrow keys, and 6 and 8 on the num pad.

Yeah, one on each key.

Index is not desirable for FFR for two reasons:

1. There are no index-biased songs on FFR. FotBB is arguable, but that has crossovers/doubletaps. SP is also arguable, but there are only a couple sections that are particularly hard for spread.
2. There ARE spread-biased songs on FFR. EHHS and Pants are essentially impossible to do properly index, and I've fairly sure GGC is impossible with index.

So yeah, basically, don't do index unless you're a hardcore DDR player who's used to that way of reading.

I always thought AIM was index-biased in FFR, and how come you didn't mention how hard OMW is with index?

ok so i use left hand middle finger for left key, left hand index finger for down key, right hand index finger for up key, and right hand middle finger for right key. Is that the correct fingers for "spread"?
