    Keyboard?

I was wondering how much your keyboard actually matters in Stepmania and FFR.

At my house, when i play, my scores are significantly worse then when i use basically any other computer/keyboard.

However, at home, i have a wireless keyboard. I was wondering if the change in scores would be affected by the keyboard.

It seems so, but i'm not sure.

Would the wireless keyboard create a slight lag?

    Just wondering...

    Re: Keyboard?

I've done a lot of gaming and have always found wireless mouse/keyboard to be less accurate than their usb counterparts.

    Small sample size though.

      Re: Keyboard?

Wireless devices can create a slight delay.

Aside from the wireless stuff, here are a couple other differences that may impact performance:
Certain keyboards register more keystrokes at the same time. This comes up in o2jam often, where players may be required to hit seven keys at once.
Certain keyboards have lower keys, which can make it either easier or harder to find where the keys are, depending on how you play.

Personally, I've had great luck with a Logitech USB keyboard in both o2jam and ffr/sm.

        Re: Keyboard?

Since this is already a thread i was wondering

Am i making a mistake because i ordered a Logitech Wireless keyboard/mouse accessory *kit* (if you wanna call it that). My current keyboard however disallows me to do any jumpstream songs well (If there are 2 jumps quickly after each other - such as in Hyper Pressure) i get a beep sound because my keyboard can't register more than 3 keys :-/

Have I made a mistake ordering a wireless set?

Not necissarily, it will still work, though your timing will be a little different because of the delay.

I don't even understand the need for wireless stuff unless it's internet itself.

You're not taking your keyboard mouse into the can with you are you? Don't they just stay at the computer?

              Re: Keyboard?

I do a lot of paperwork and my desk where i write is located a little to the side - therefore a wireless keyboard would aid me greatly, to answer your question.

My accuracy is better on my logitech elite (wired) but my speed goes through the roof (for my standards) with my laptop keyboard because the keys are so close together and low, making it take much less time to hit them.
