finger setup?

ok..i can do anything from beginner to difficult and some very difficult and challenging...but i cant seem to bridge the cap....
ive been playing online on stepmania and most people use a 2-handed approach..is this better? im used to a one handed 3 fingered(index,middle,ring) use

The majority of top players seem to use two hands.

I think spread is the most common

left middle = left arrow
left pointer - bottom arrow
right pointer = numpad 8
right middle = numpad 6


Despite what you may have read on the forums. The numpad arrow keys work whether your numlock is on or off. I've tested both.

actually, alot of spread players play with this setup:
z=left
x=down
period=up
/=right

Play whatever you feel comfortable with at the current reading speed.

in the long run, you will almost certainly do better and improve faster using 4 fingers, index and middle from both hand. positioning of them is personal preference.

i used to be a pretty experienced one hander i could do things like fc thinking different and almost fc hanabi. i switched to four finger spread (8 6 left and down arrows) about two weeks ago and i can already tell a difference in my play. also in case you haven't read about it you should try screen shrinking. it helps tremendously to break down patterns and make things easier to read.

i used to play just like you but then i realized how easily i could just play index so i did and now im like 50 times better

oh and i dont think you can use z x . / on ffr
