I can AA really hard songs on StepMania but I tried FFR today (yeh the online one right at this site) and I can't even pass the simplest songs.

it has nothing to do with the timing. the timing on FFR is EASIER than judge4 on SM. It is around J3...
what makes FFR harder is 2 things... 1, FFR scrolls at C300... while most people are comfortable reading at 600+. 2, FFR does not register jacks very well... so songs with jacks are often more challenging than they should be.
other than that, you shouldn't have any differences. my advice: screenshrink. I believe there is a stickied thread on screenshrinking in FFR General Talk.RIPComment

Timing feels more like J5 or J6 to me, personally, so long as you're comparing FFR goods to SM greats.
It is FAR easier for me to AAA songs in SM than in FFR, and it's not just because of speed mods, I'm sure...the timing is just less strict.4th Official FFR Tournament - Master division champion!

lmao, it's actually WAY earlier, unless you have a slow graphics card or something that causes SM to mess up.
Hitting a TINY bit late in FFR will give you a good (like 5% of the arrow is past the receptor), whereas if even 40% of the arrow is off the bottom part of the receptor you'll probably still get a perfect.4th Official FFR Tournament - Master division champion!

yeah ffr is way off sync sometimes. trying playing stuff like slap guitar 2 and stay right with the arrows. the song and arrows don't line up worth a crap. Don't hit the arrows with the music on any of the old songs. hit a tiny bit early. If ya hit perfectly with the music your chances of getting a good or perfect is probably like 50/50
