Finding the gap for a song

Heh, I hope this question isn't asked too much. I've searched around the forums and haven't really been able to find anything to help me out on this.

I've read about using Goldwave & Cool Edit Pro to get the gap of a song, but I just don't seem to be bright enough to figure it out all the way. XP

Does anyone have a link to, or would be willing to tell me, a step-by-step way of using Goldwave to find the gap? Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

For the record I use Cool Edit Pro for all my recording and mp3 needs...

    Onto your question...

I'm not sure what you mean by 'gap of a song'... Like putting an offset at the beginning of a song when stepping it?

Try to clarify what you mean and I'll help you out... Unless I'm just being retarded right now... And someone else might be able to to help you out :P

      Yes.

I'm not an expert on the Goldwave technique, but I think it has something to do with adding a certain amount of time onto the start of the mp3 and putting that in as the offset. I personally just use F11/12 to get it close and then use AutoSync, but it's not as accurate. I just don't care because gap tends to vary slightly from computer to computer, anyway.

I'm sure someone here knows how to use Goldwave to find the gap down to three or so digits.
