Let's get it started in here!

Ok... I just started playing the game... Even standard is hard for me! So, what I basically need to do then, is work the "For Beginner" songs over and over, right?
Then move on to "Standard" etc.
    Right?

No, you start with the hardest song. Then when you're really good, you play the easy ones.

Balloon Fever is an excellent starting point.

Just find a song that you can complete without COMPLETELY sucking at it, and work at it until you can FC it. Then, try an harder song that you can complete without COMPLETELY sucking at it, and work at it until you can FC it, etc., basically work up the ladder.

Also, if you're in the need for speed, download StepMania. Oh, and welcome to the forums. HAVE FUN!

'Get on the move' and 'soul shift' are good starter songs, just look for songs in the easy catagory, and once you get the hang of them, then like IAAW said move on up the ladder.

I remember when a quarter use to cost a nickel.

In all seriousness, basically just work on reading the arrows and timing, and then you can gradually increase the difficulty of the songs you play. But first just get good at reading and timing. Then moving on is easier.
