Ok, don't get me wrong. I'm pretty good at DDR. I can survive Standard and a few heavy. But on a keyboard...how should I arrange my fingers. I usually have ring finger on right, middle finger covering up and down, and index on left (all right hand). Is that right?

Playing onehanded like that is really difficult to get good at.
I reccomend playing with your index fingers acting like your legs do in DDR.
Some people also play two handed with 4 fingers. Left middle on left key, left index on up, right index on down, right middle on right. Some people have trouble learning to play this style though (namely, me for one).
