Multiplayer???

I'm new to multiplayer, so a while ago I decided to watch a few games to see how it worked.
I connected to the mulitplayer thingy at the bottom, clicked on a game as viewer, etc. Nothing happened for a while, so I decided to play a game myself while I waited. I started to click around and find one, when all of a sudden, a game popped up. It had the two player thing on it, and it started, and i freaked. I watched it, and the person on the left wasn't getting anything at all, so I started doing it and it started marking up points.

Can someone please tell what was going on?

It may have just been a glitch. I suggest clearing your cache, and trying again.
