I can do all the songs in R1 and can hold some ok combos on most of them. What songs should do if I want to get better?

Agreed. However, many songs are alike, so variety helps. For example, if doubles are your weakness, you can try songs like Lethal injection or Get Down. Or, if you hate jacks, do things like 100 Bar Blackout, X-Dreamer, or Crystalis (to name a few). Find your weakness(es) and work on them. The other aspects will come more easily then.

Yes, the C300 scroll speed is oft a point for complaints. You could learn a new playfield though, like LT or RT (but without using a program to turn your screen 90 degrees *coughDJRidderCOUGH*
