I know that this is the second problem I've had with typical forum stuff but I've found an animated avatar that I like but when I save it, it only saves one part of the animation, like a picture and not animation. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

you dont have to , there sould be a place in the ava. section tha'll upload it from a url.Comment

Nope, just a little thing saying:
"Right-click and select 'save image as...'"
