It may help with your timing...

I don't really hear much from people claming they improved at DDR because of FFR or any other simulator.

It takes a little bit of time to get used to the left down up right order. If you are famliliar with ddr i guess it would help there a little.

Stepmania helped me out with DDR. I got a feel for the game, got used to the mechanics of it, ect. It doesn't help with the acctual dancing. (I used keyboard *That is a dur thing*) So in my opinion in a way it does help out.

I'm pretty sweet at DDR, but I kinda suck at this FFR thing, so I don't think it will work the other way around...

My friend is a big fanatic of ddr, and he told me to play FFR to get the timing down for the arrows. So I guess that it helps in some areas.

FFR and Stepmania Helped me insanely with DDR. I could only pass most beginner songs before, played stepmania for about a year, found a ddr machine one day, and I could pass heavy easily. It's all about being confident in the timing of the arrows and the beat, and planning your moves ahead. Stepmania helps with this alot, moreso if you practice with an index setup. (using your index fingers)

It'll definitely help you read patterns and such.

it depends. but ddr is way much slower than ffr so it probably does make you better....

Playing index has definitely helped me. When I started playing DDR on Christmas (I started playing index at about the same time), I could barely pass some light songs. In fact, I took about 3 weeks off from playing DDR, becuase I got super pissed at my pad because the down receptor doesn't work all the time. Then one day about a week ago, I played again, and I could pass ANY song on standard (except MaxxUnlimited and whatever Paranoia mix is in MAX2) and a few of the heavies. I just need to increase my lung capacity and stuff now, because I get tired fast.

I also used to practice moving my feet along with my fingers while I played the song. I donno if that helped at all.

I started out playing FFR. Then I downloaded StepMania. All I have is the keyboard, but I play the Jukebox mode and kinda step to the songs on an imaginary pad, lol. It's helped me a lot considering that I have never really played DDR before.

It only helps with hand-eye coordination...It also can help u learn how to watch the entire screen and keep track of all of the arrows coming up. Other than that...no.
