    DDR - FFR

Well, I have always LOVED DDR, but I do not own it. I only play it at my cousins house. But this is definately as much fun. I hope I can get good, and I can do standard. May I suggest the song "Spontaneous Hydroxide" 3rd page in the Dance section? It's awesome. Well post your replys, also, can someone tell me what hand or fingers I should use to play? I am not exactly sure, because I use one hand, but I dont think that will be quite good enough on some of the harder songs.

      Welcome.

I think the 4 finger method works.
But i cant guarantee it, just experiment around.

      I play with:

index and middle finger on both hands

      Left hand-Index-Letter J-Left arrow
      Left Hand-Middle finger-Letter K-down arrow
      Right Hand-Index-Letter L-Up arrow
      Right hand-Middle Finger-Letter ;-Right arrow

      MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
FEAR THE INDECISIVENESS OF THE DEMON!!!!
      MWAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!

You have SO got it wrong.

              It goes:
Left Middle Finger - Left or NumPad 4
Left Index Finger - Down or NumPad 2
Right Middle Finger - Right or NumPad 6
Right Index Finger - Up or NumPad 8

This makes the "Masters Only" songs feel like "For Beginners"!

RE: Re: RE: DDR - FFR

EVERYONE, STFU ABOUT TELLING THIS GUY HOW TO PLAY.

the_daiz, you can play however you please. I play onehanded normally, but I also play indexes sometimes and I'm planning on learning fourfinger soon.

So you can choose how to play more easily, I will tell some strengths and weaknesses of each playing style.

                One handed-
Strengths: If you get good at onehanded, people get very amazed. Actually, you don't even have to be very good, you can just not suck and people will be amazed.
Weaknesses: It's hard to get good at this style. Stamina is a problem for most, and some patterns are very difficult with onehand (up down up down... or a tap on up while holding down). Most also have more trouble with 16th streams on onehand than they do with other styles.

                Index-
Strengths: I'm not too sure of the strengths on this, it is more like playing real DDR, so that makes it fun. Maybe an indexer can tell me what the strengths are.
Weaknesses: Some patterns are very difficult. Since you say you love DDR, I'll assume you know what a crossover is. There are two ways of doing crossovers on index and neither ways are too easy (you can double step for them, or you can actually crossover for them).

                Four Finger-
Strengths: All the best players play like this; it is the easiest style to be really good at. Accuracy and speed are both supposed to be easier with fourfinger play.
Weaknesses: Since a lot of people play four finger style, you have to be really good to get any recognition.

                Also:

You play with both indexes on the up key?

If indexes are your fastest, you can trill and jackhammer the best, because sometimes 4-finger is difficult to trill 42424242 patterns. And index is the most fun XD...

Weeeee I'm sorta new to FFR too. I haven't touched the forums, and randomly appear on the chat and lurk for 5 seconds, but I just play ffr whenever, it's fun. I came here too, to ask how people play. At the moment, I play three fingers, left = left, middle = up/down, right = right. 'Cept I can't do up + down with middle fingerr, so left occasionally takes the down button too. :\ My question is: Do the 3 fingered players play with their wrists on the table? Or hovering up? I'm more comfortable with my wrists on the table, but I find my reaction speed suffers, and since I've got the reflexes of a pregnant cow, and really slow to register many arrows and their positions quickly, it makes for a baaaaaaad combination. :\ I'm gonna go try your indexed way, sounds like an interesting thing.

OK...never heard a comparison like that before.

Anyway, all you need to know is 4 finger=speed, and one-handed=accuracy, at leat that's what I think. I play 4 finger and I can almost FC CIA Rave, so if you want to be able to do harder songs like molto vivace, rondo, or silence, you should play 4 finger.
