Server Down?

I just started playing but I want to challenge my friends, when I try to connect to multi player it just says connecting then stops after awhile. Can this be from the server being down?

multiplayer hasn't worked in about 2 months. it was put in and tested for a week or so, then taken down. the ETA til its up again is unknown.

you can still send and receive challenges though.
