Mod UP?

I noticed that on the high scores some people have the "mod" option set to "UP" ... What does that mean, and if it's good how do I get that?

up is the standard. the arrows go toward the top. there is of course, other ways to play. down, left, right, and diagonal. you can change which way you play by clicking on the different icons in the upper right. the other common way to play is down, or reverse in SM. since DDR is the only bemani game where the arrows go up. in every other one, they go down.
