how do you find what your overall rank is on FFR?

You can do this by playing the game and it is in the bottom right corner, or you can type this into the url

just, obviously, replace my name, with yourse, and rank is updated about once a week... So yeah...

Click on FFR The Game and then on the main page at the right-bottom you will see "Your Overall FFR Ranking" and a number next to it. That is your rank.

it's really weird though...because it says "1"...which is insanely incorrect

Yea that is because you are new and the ranks havent been updated yet.

Though you joined a year ago, you didn't play much, am I right? And you just started playing a bunch recently?

You have to be within the top 150,000 players to be ranked. Otherwise you are #1. Since it's obvious that you are now in the top 150,000, wait until the next rank update and you will be ranked what you should be.
