The game goes slow on my computer and sometimes the arrows will stop, and jump up the screen, so I miss some. Is there a low resolution mode or something I can do to speed it up?

Yes, a lot of people get this glitch. It's apparently all due to your computer. If decreasing the quality doesn't work well enough, try shutting down any programs you're not actively using to free up comptuer resources. You can also check to make sure you have the latest version of Flash and sometimes clearing your cache can help. But if you do everything you can and it still pauses, you'll just have to live with it until you get a better computer, I guess. BTW, I do get this pausing glitch, too, and it bugs me, but I can't get rid of it completely no matter what I do. I just hope that they don't screw me up too badly, especially if I was on track for a full combo.
