I think the easiest way would be to find a post by the person you want to send a PM to, then click the small PM picture link at the bottom of their post. That should take you to a posting screen much like the one for the boards, but will have the selected user as the recipient of the message. You can probably also do it by going to your PM using that "new messages" link at the top of the page, then look for an option to send a new message. In that case you'll probably have to type in the person's name yourself which is why I think doing it from the PM link in a post is probably easier. Hope this helps.
