    Sup! Newb questions incoming

    Hello all~
    I've been playing games for ages, though these games where its more timing based, i've only played OSU! and done decently well i'd think, not much to say about it.

    Thought i'd drop some quick questions (well, hopefully they're quick) about the game itself.
    After reading quite a bit of the forums last night, i realised i had no idea what most people were talking about, even after reading the faq and other things like that. The main things being: d5/d6 etc, as well as some words you use when describing your scores you get.
    Oh, and this speed thingy, where you set it from 1~ to 2.5~, i really dont see a difference at the moment, and the only thing i got off reading the forums was it changes the spacing between notes?

    alright.... that may be badly worded... But any help would be appreciated!

    D1/D2/D3 etc. are all divisions for tournaments. There's official tournaments and user hosted tournaments and you get placed in those divisions based on your skill level. D1 would be the lowest skill level while D7 is the highest. You were correct when you said that speed mod dictates how spaced out the notes are. 1 to 2.5 is a HUGE jump; you should've definitely seen a difference. Maybe you didn't save correctly? Finally, as for the "some words you use", you'll have to be more specific. Here's some of them:

    FC = full combo
    AAA = all perfects
    BF = black flag - all perfects except for 1 good
    SDG = single digit goods

      I think this would be a lovely point in time to direct over to the actual FFR Wiki (Wow it's actually useful for once) for the page on FFR Terminology.

      http://ffr.wikia.com/wiki/FFR_Terminology

      albiet there's much more that could be added to it...

      but yeah, speedmods in FFR are usually 1.0 - 2.5 basically because your eyes can't usually read anything faster on the screen than 2.5x - 2.7x speed. It spaces out the notes, and allows a bigger hit area for the notes because it's more zoomed in on the hit area. the faster you can read and respond to notes coming up on the screen, usually the higher speedmod is preferred, and the person is just able to hit notes better within a better frame of mind.

      Apart from the actual discussion, I'm proud that more people that don't frequent the forums are actually starting to use the forums.

        Thanks for the replies.
        yea.... i couldn't remember which words/abbreviations it was when posting this mornin' (and still can't) though hopefully i'll figure em out after reading the wiki.

        And with the speed, i'll have a play around with it later today on both faster and slower songs (fast being 12/13 for me atm =P )

          I play on 1.8, most top-end players play with 2.0 or 2.2 or even 2.5, but don't push yourself to go those speeds. Take it in modesty, and keep going faster the more you are able to read and understand the patterns. And eventually, you will notice yourself getting better at the game.

            if you're using legacy engine you have to click set speed for your speed modifier to change

            basically the arrows scroll faster if you set it anything higher than 1.0
