I posted on here a few months ago saying I'd be really active around here because of how much I loved rhythm games...
yeah...
... well, I've played quite a lot of FFR - I managed to get pretty good (in my own terms - about 80% on 50 difficulty songs) and I got my dad into it - he can't play songs above about 20-30 difficulty but aims for FC's and SDG's much more, so he can beat me at most songs up to about 35, at which point things get just much too tough for him.
Anyway, I asked about how to create songs before, and was linked to the thread in the FAQ. I had another read of it just now, too. I've previously downloaded the Stepmania 3.95 game, but it's (obviously) empty so I've never used it. I want to try and make my own songs now, though, but I've got a few questions...
Also, just before I forget to say, I don't have internet at the moment! Right now I'm at my parents' house, but at the start of this week I moved into my own flat and I won't get internet installed until April (which is partly what finally prompted me to look into stepping songs!) - I can check for replies to this post on my phone, but my phone only gets a limited usage per month, and the android browser version on my phone is awful so I can't respond to replies or download anything big unless I come back home again.
(Therefore I'm trying to get everything ready so I can work offline on songs tomorrow!)
So, questions:
- I got Dancemania 3.95, I just downloaded the template text file and the BPM analyzer and copied the instructions in the post into a notepad file. Is there anything else I need to download, or do I now have everything that I need to create stepfiles and play/test them on dancemania offline?
- I know about the permission rules, but, I'm guessing it's legal (or even if it isn't, there's no way anyone will know) if I were to create a stepfile for a song that I haven't gained permission for as long as I only ever play it offline - never attempt to upload it to FFR?
- Are there any songs on here that I could download a stepfile for, so I can play them offline to keep my 'epic skills' honed whilst I still have no internet? I have Sequence and SCGMD4 downloaded on my laptop, but even "Spasmodic" difficulty on Sequence only seems to equate to about difficulty 25 on FFR...
... I'm sure I had other things to ask but I guess that's it. The main thing is basically can I make my own stepfiles now (AND be able to play them) or do I still have to download things?
