Down under the forums it shows err'one online, and some people have astrix, astrice, astrexes, fuck it.... ***** those things next to their names.

i didn't know this for the longest time either until recently lol, but apparently it's an option that shows ur offline i.e invisible to the general community (aka not viewing a thread). however veterans have the ability to see ppl with the asterisk

Means they're invisible, but still visible to higher ranks or something along those lines.
