i love ct, i really do...
having thought provoking discussions and
thinking about things from a different perspective
can be quite enjoyable
especially on those rare occasions when...
i discover something about myself,
i realize that something is or isnt important to me,
i further develop my opinion on the subject,
or i discover more about the kind of person i am
and the kind of person i want to be.
But usually...
my ct discussions tend to be dead ends...
and by that i mean a lot of the same points come up,
a lot of the same arguments are made,
the issue is not resolved,
progress is not even made,
people still have their opinions.
this tends to give my brain "enlightenment blue balls"
metaphorically the engine is running but the car is not going anywhere...
in other cases
the discussion leads to the conclusion that
a lot of things in life are f'ed up
and there might not be anything we can do about it
but then again, progress may not be the purpose of ct.
if not, then what is?
to try to justify the way one thinks?
to fulfill a desire to be accepted?
to propagate one's opinion?
to express frustrations?
to have a topic of conversation?
is ct philosophy?
is ct a subset of philosophy?
is philosophy a subset of ct?
i might edit this later but im posting now to get some thought juices flowing
