I can't come up with an answer that satisfies me.

What do you people think it could be?

I've discussed it with a few people, and I have concluded that it is not asexual or a mormon.

we could learn from looking at the actuall parts of a word. maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
