    Airport Security

I've been traveling a lot lately and airport security is almost certainly one of the biggest reasons why I try to avoid it. I just hate having to take off my shoes, unpack my carefully packed laptop bag, and wait in long lines. But now they want to introduce X-ray machines that let people see through our clothes?

Here's a fact check: Number of hijackings that have occurred due to someone getting an illegal item through security in the US? Answer: 0. 9/11 happened because the terrorists took box cutters - items that were perfectly legal -- onto the plane. This is a solution for a problem that doesn't even exist. A "solution" that merely puts up even more obstacles to flying.

The most idiotic thing that happened to me while traveling was to be told that I was not allowed to take any computer cables (power leads, ethernet, etc.) in my hand luggage and that I should re-pack them in my checked in stuff, as they could be used to garrot someone....then the first thing they gave me on the plane were a pair of headphones!! I mean, come on....no one believes that the security checks make a difference to a determined terrorist..all they do is create delays and give small minded power-hungry bigots a chance to flex their muscles on Joe Public.

It's all about appearance. The vast majority of these 'security' procedures have nothing at all to do with actual security, and a lot to do with presenting the appearance of security. They'd rather make it look like they're doing something (however ineffectual) instead of actually implementing a process that would have an effect.

Any moderately motivated individual with an intent to do harm could easily get through these jokes of a security check with no diminution at all of their ability to do harm.

lol, yeah but when I went on an airplane a long time ago before Septmber 11, There was much less security. Well, it still took a while but waiting for them to board the airplane took forever almost. But flying in an aircraft is really fun

          RE: Airport Security

OK listen to this.. You may get a kick out of it.

The summer after 9/11 i decided to run away. I got a friend bought an airplane ticket online. Got a freind to take me to the air port and i went up to the clerk lady and handed her my bag and gave her a crinkled up sheet of white paper and with a bunch of numbers and letters scribbled on it sloppily. I told her my dad had bought me a plane ticket online and i was to go see him but this was the confromation code needed to recieve my plane ticket. she took my bag tagged it and then gave me my ticket TO WASHINGTON D.C, it was as simple as that. I walked to my terminal and when i went through secuirty you had to have photo ID being the minor i was i had no I.D. So instead of haveing to go through the metal detectors i got to walk around them, get scanned with a bar thing one time, then got to board my plane. Can anyone else see the errors in this. In case not here you go..

          1) i was about 13 yrs old and ran away from home jumpping on a plane with no ID or anything and was let through extremely easily without question

          2) Without ID Passangers were let through easier and went through less security

          3) i was on a plane to D.C. just a few months after 9/11... uh.. WTF..

What they need to do is have the stewardess hand out glocks. That way if anybody planned on getting uppity in the first place, they're getting capped.

Edit: Sera; that's funny as hell. You have some guts, chick.

I dont have any storys of running away but i do have an argument. The fact that racial profiling is illegal is obsured. Dont harras blacks asians hispanics or whites. This libral country is so scared of addmiting that the solution is to pick out race that the whole system has gone haywire. Pull over the arabs! What really pisses me off is in Britain where arabs flock in from the middle easy (Their homeland) to live in a muiltyracial country that doesnt include them. These bombings are a perfect example of it. Any race besides the arabs have such a small chance of being a threat in any way that its pathetic that they would be checked just as much as a guy with a turban. I know i might sound raceist but this is the truth people!

I believe Every single person should be Treated with the same and equal security, Depite if they are wearing a turban or a sombero or a baseball cap. Every race should have the same treatment as the next. If the security is as Sure proof as they say it should be, Then there is no reason to have to pull over the arab man or the black man, or even the white man just becuase the color of their skin. I think its obsered to Legalize such a horrible and inhonorable act.

I've never heard of those kind of X-ray machines before. Can you post a link that leads to information about these machines?
I doubt that X-rays allowing people to see through clothing will introduced. If the machines were put into action, likely many people will object to it. People won't like being screened by a machine that allows someone to look at their bodies and undergarments. The machines would become a failure.

Yeah, they aren't x-ray machines. X-rays have nanoscopic frequencies which allows them to easily pass through your body. The airport security machines use microscopic rays, just enough to pass through your clothes, but not your flesh - thus avoiding cancer and tumors for frequent fliers. Not sure exactly who's manufacturing these things - a number of organizations, probably.

I spent quite some time reading this sentence, and quite frankly I have no clue what you're trying to say. Is there a chance you meant to say obscure? If so, I'm even more confused, because last time I checked, it wasn't. If not, then isn't an obscured fact actually a myth? Either way, you sound like a dumbass.

Because terror and murder are exclusively a towel head's past time, right?

This is just a wild guess, but I have the feeling an entire colony of self-supremacist retards would agree with you there. Could it be because FOX, CNN, MSNBC, and CSPAN have used the words "Middle East" and "Arab" enough times to ensure the population does the racial "picking out" on its own? Who needs cops and feds when the average citizen has half the common sense and twice the mental recklessness?

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
                      1. Is Britain anything other than something you've heard about on TV, or hardly paid attention to in History (assuming you go to school)?
                      2. If they immigrated anywhere, they fled to Israel. Let's try a thinking exercise: You're a 20 year old Arab in the Middle East. Your home has just been raided, family killed, and food robbed. Where do you go? Here's a hint: http://www.world66.com/asia/middleea...ss_gets_bombed.
                      3. Wow. Arabs must be pretty unique if there are entire multiracial countries that they don't belong in. They must be an entirely different kind of species!
                      4. What bombings are a perfect example of what? So far I've found nothing that you can use to justify your total lack of intelligence, whatsoever.

My math could be a bit rusty, and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't everyone have just as much a chance at terror as anyone else? I mean, I'd hate to feel racially profiled. I'd like to think that if I wanted to strap a bomb to myself and take out a crowd, I could. Do they make white-proof bombs now? Man... wow. Science is, like... wow.

So you're saying that there's a chance you could sound racist by basically advocating the social and political genocide, imprisonment, harassment, and unquestionable detainment of an entire race beyond all reasonable doubt? I'm not sure I see where you're coming from. Could you give me an example of this "may-or-may-not-be-racism" you're talking about? I'm just trying to get a total understanding, because you obviously sound like you know what you're talking about - with your strong conviction and all. Just do me one small favor and run your post through a spell-checker. Kids piss sentences in the snow that are more coherent than the crap you just posted.

Yeah, people need to grow up. The security slows everyone down, but so what? Get there early. If people would just cooperate with the TSA, you can hardly call it either humiliating, ridiculous, or too slow.

I swear to god, I was standing in line once, there's TSA all over and around the securtiy booths, there's huge warning signs on what you can and cannot bring onboard, maybe even some guys with big guns.
I swear to god, TWICE while I was in line, one guy got stopped for having crocodile dundee-sized knife with him, and then 10 minutes later some idiot stops the line again because he has a friggin huge revolver in his bag.

                            Oh, one last little comment:
But now they want to introduce X-ray machines that let people see through our clothes?
Oh, shut up. Being worried about that is just being a naive pussy. If that was ever issued as security, the people of the TSA would be extremely trained in being mature about it and not abusing it.
