    Flirting

Is it okay to flirt with someone else's girlfriend? Also, what is defined as flirting, because I know there is a difference between flirting and hitting on, and I know flirting is generally harmless unless it evolves into hitting on, but just, what are you alls takes on this?

Because I'm accused of it a bit much.

    RE: Flirting

I have a girlfriend and I flirt with other friends girls quite often. They know its harmless and I would never stray from my girl as I'm pretty dedicated to her (I've been dating her for 14 months now and we live together). Guys that take offense to this are insecure with their relationships. If this is the case then take the hint and back off. Is it worth the drama?

      RE: Flirting

i definately agree with porgy... but i also know i'm a fairly jealous guy, and i won't take it too well if some dude was putting the moves on her... and, although i haven't, there might arise a situation when said perpitrator would meet my coiled hand.

now, from the other end... when i was single... i would have no problem hitting on (i don't think there is a difference between flirting and hitting on. you know you want this chick, thats why you make the move) girls, boyfriend or no.

i also think age plays a factor in things as well. the older you get, the touchier things get, because relationships are more serious and meaningful. like porgy is 21 and lives his with woman. i'm 20, i live 3000 miles away from my gf but drop 220 bucks a month to fly out and see her, and she's transfering to my coast for school next semester. very serious... compared to being 16 and all you want is to get your pecker wet.

on a side note, props to tasslefoot for some dedication there. $220 a month to fly out to see your woman on a regular basis is impressive.

            RE: Flirting

i think the definition depends on the person who's doing the flirting. for ex. if you're normally a flirty person, then the way you act towards all girls/guys cannot be considered flirting b/c that's the way you normally are. however, if you're usually shy and quiet, but flirt with this one girl, then it could be seen as hitting on. but to answer your question, it is ok to flirt a little, but if you get too flirty, it'll seem like you're hitting on the girl and her bf will not be happy : /.

Imeric is ahead of me on in that respect, but I believe that the difference between flirting and hitting on someone is not really measured by you yourself, but by the people you are with. I know a group that is much looser and so the line is stretched, because everyone knows that no one is really hitting on the others.

It always depends on the group, and Yes Tassel, I do believe there is a difference, since you aren't attempting to actually get the chick. Flirting would be with someone you already know, that you are just joking around with.

                    RE: Flirting

Flirting is fun and fine, as long as it's harmless.

I wouldn't mind if the girl I'm seeing flirted with guys. If it's between friends, then it's usually just fine. I wouldn't have a problem. Yes, the friend might want more... but I'd trust her to deal with it. If it's some guy I don't know, I'd be a little jealous... but again, I'd trust her. If a guy was hitting on her, I wouldn't like it at all.

I flirt with my female friends all the time. It's harmless though. It's all in good fun. It makes me feel good, and it makes them feel good.

                      RE: Flirting

Is it okay to flirt with somebody else's girlfriend... I think the answer depends on two factors. One, the nature of their relationship. For instance, if they're possessive types, they won't find that behavior acceptable. Two, your own intentions. If you're flirting as a means to "steal" the girl away, or really if you have romantic interest in her at all... then flirting with her is not cool. No. If she is your friend and you're just having fun, that is different.

Personally, I used to be an incredibly jealous person (my sign is Scorpio, can you blame me?), but I'm improving. I think it is important to be comfortable enough in a relationship that you don't "freak" over silly things like innocent flirtation.

Bandit hit the nail on the head, and tass's line will go in the quote of the month catalogue as Mr. October with "there might arise a situation when said perpitrator would meet my coiled hand. "

I"m 16 and I say the same thing goes for my age. Although not as serious, its still what bandit and the rest of you have said. As long as its harmless then its ok and depending on the guy.... well some might think it not harmless but thats their problem.

most of you kids will never know the real meaning of a serious relationship till you are out of high school. Believe me, you will not marry your high school sweetheart. Wait till you live with them and share financial responsibilities. Then see how long it lasts.
