This is (to my family and friends, at least) a VERY high level of thinking (no, I don't think it's that hard). Do you think it's possible for people to be put in a world where nothing exists except for the people they meet (or see on T.V.) and the times before that were predetermined and programmed into the people? I mean, what if I'm the only human that can think and that nothing happened before I was born (or as far as I can remember) and everything was made up, like the year, the monuments, animals, plants, inventions, and atmosphere!? How do we know I'm not just being watched by a higher lifeform and have my environment set up to be to my like or dislike until I die, just to watch the senarios unfold?!

:/ Maybe there is no world. Maybe it's all a little box with the things put in, like Jello (jiggly fruit dessert, not the guy XD), fossils, cotton, (yeah, I'm naming random things) and even planets. They (being the higher life form) could have also made laws and rules. This also faintly ties into if there is an afterlife or not :/ I feel so... thinking.Comment

From my point of view, this is absurd, because you are proposing that I (as in my consciousness) don't exist by myself, and yet I know that I exist. However, I cannot prove to you, in this frame of mind, that I exist. I think there's a name for this theory, but I can't think of it right now. It proposes that only the individual exists (that is, you) and everything else is only an illusion (generally).
In my opinion: this is pointless.

*sigh* When I wrote the first post, I had JUST thought of the box thing. What if everyone is a hologram, able of ACTING like it had emotions and feelings, and was somehow solidified. What if everyone that LOOKS and ACTS older than me just says things about the older days, but is really programmed to say that. Or, what if each person is REAL, but they all live in different areas (all being in different dimensions or something *.*) and each person in one world or dimension is different in another :/ Like, in Eric's world, the universe could be 6X6'' (according to my world's measurments), but all the people are extremely small and live in a utopia. Or in nonexistant's world, people are required to be naked, have only one language, and are burned by water and cleansed by what would be mud in my world!Comment

Yeah, basically. And Nonexitent, I'm just taking guesses here :/ Of course, they might not HAVE people watching if it was billions of boxes or dimensions. I was discussing this with friends and they said thatif they were holograms, they wouldn't be capable of emotions, like love, phyiscal movement, or speech, but I told them they were PROGRAMMED to tell me that XD And by the way, I had NO idea that this was a scientific theory :/ I probably wouldn't have posted if I knew *.*Comment

Not really a scientific theory, but I know it has been discussed before (maybe not here). It's more like a philosophical theory that hasn't ever gone anywhere.
Hey, if you want to believe that you live in your own little world, be my guest. Many people already think this way, but less on a philosophical scale, and more on an egotistical scale.

It's so... disturbing. I mean, if everyone was a hologram, and you were arrested, you could just say that you thought that you were the only living human, or that everyone was just a hologram and you knew that they were programed to say everything to you.
