Good job, why was the appeal even filed to begin with?

I had lost an appeal from back when I worked at some lame pet store, even though I had a solid case. What was each side's argument?

Filed because the employer agent claimed that I was discharged because of misconduct. I argued that I was fired because of performance issues (which I had sufficient proof to back that up), and the employer witness (my former HR manager) even agreed that I was discharged for performance and not because of anything deliberate.
