Re: wellllll, shit.
Yeah, I was planning on doing this. As dumb as this might sound, when I opened up the back (bottom?) of my laptop, I noticed there's two SATA ports already... So my plan was to put my old one into the second port and format it.Well if you've done that, install your hardrive on a secondary SATA port, right click Computer --> Manage --> Disk managment. You'll then want to delete the partition by right clicking on it then make a new NTFS partition after you've backed up your data on your new HDD with methods mentioned above. You'll then have that HDD for additional storage space.
@aldentron: I downloaded an album before my harddrive pooped on me, forgot which one it was xd

Re: wellllll, shit.
bit of a bump
currently downloading linux mint, because I ran into two issues with the recovery disks
1 - I can't use the recovery disks on my new hard drive for some reason. Whenever I run the recovery program (doesn't matter which way I run it (wipe the drive and reinstall windows or repair windows)), I get an error saying that it doesn't work on the hardware.
2 - Ghosting an image of my old hard drive to the new one doesn't work because lol bad sectors.
So yeah, downloading the mint iso so I can burn a boot disk. I've spent like $200 in two days because of this shit (new hd, cdr's for first idea, recovery disks with priority shipping, numerous energy drinks, a twix, and dvdr's for mint).
Unrelated, but I found a junkyard that'll buy my old car for a couple hundred, so at least I'm making money on that.
does flash run on linux .__.

Is it hookd up properly? It's given SATA for data and power? To check if the computer can recognize it go into the Terminal and run the command 'gparted' and it'll bring up a GUI partitioning program. If you can see your hardrive in there, that's it. Also make sure that hardrive is hooked up to your primary SATA port. It's usually a different colour than the ~4 you probably have.
Read ElRayford's post with the program he linked. Use that program. If it doesn't work after then I'd assume it's dead and the data is near unrecoverable.
Yes, but it's shit and will probably not suit your FFR needs. You need to go to the Adobe site and download the latest one for Ubuntu, a .deb file. When using Linux Mint, keep in mind that it pretty much is Ubuntu and things made for Ubuntu will more than probably run on it.Comment

Re: wellllll, shit.
Yeah, it was hooked up correctly and the recovery software would go through the entire process. It was only when I tried rebooting when it said to, that I had issues.
I know it was being recognized because I could see it in the BIOS menu when I was changing boot order.
lol hopefully I'm able to get the next round with linux. -___-;
