FFR/Stepmania + TV-out

has anyone else ever tried this setup? i just recently setup my laptop to connect to my TV via s-video, and played some FFR. awkward setup using a wireless keyboard but fun non the less.

I would definitely play like that than on a regular laptop screen. but thats just me.

Playing SM on a screen like that would cause offset issues due to latency between computer/TV connections. I personally wouldn't use it for normal play, but it would definitely be interesting to do in the case of a group meetup/party/etc.

yeah i understand that. like you said it, would be great from an audience prospective. also for players like myself its kind of hard to adjust seeing as i dont play full screen. not to mention im so used to using a desk as opposed to a wireless keyboard on my lap. either way its pretty fun. was just curious as to how many people have tried this.

I've tried it and had absolutely no problems. Works perfectly fine. no lag or offset issues.

that's why I said "on a screen like that"; notice that the TV is an HD tv, which probably means he's connected via HDMI - it's somewhat known for causing audio or video (or both) latency.

EDIT: actually, never mind that - how are you connected? That doesn't look like an HDMI connection at all, lol

Weird because my TV is also an HD Tv.

s-video since my laptop isnt that great.. although the tv is hdmi ready. its fine for watching movies and stuff but the latency issue does come in to play with games like stepmania or ffr. stepmania more so.

Ah, alright. At least I was right about your TV at least having that HDMI connection - I actually followed the wire plugged into the TV wondering if it was the computer connection, and sure enough...

I wouldn't mind putting an S-Video cable to the TV that we have in our living room, but I actually don't have one to try it out with. It would be interesting to play games like FFR/SM/ITG on a TV like that.
