    Food Thread

    Has anyone tried http://www.haveyoueaten.net/2008/01/...rowroot-chips/ ?

I used to eat them whenever I visited my grandma. I had no idea what they were called until I looked it up after trying a new Special K product called Cracker Chips.

    http://www.google.com/images?q=crack...w=1024&bih=630

They aren't made from the same stuff and aren't identical, but the Special K product made me reminisce a little.

Haha, I had this Sriracha phase late last year. I'd put it on pizza, eggs, virtually anything that could be spicier.

lol I made this exact thread on SMO the day after new year's. Here's my favorite liquor commercial. I'd definitely give this to my kids.

This is also what I just had for dinner. Cool recipe.

Lmao, I haven't heard from WKUK in awhile. Good stuff. Not sure I'm up for alcohol designed for youth or rare canine anytime soon. For my dinner, I had a simple corn and steak+mushrooms+onions meal.

              Re: Food Thread

I broke my tooth clean in half yesterday in a bicycle accident, so I've been steadily digesting protein shakes at my friend's house and chocolate banana milkshakes at my house.

Luckily the break is clean, and its not cutting my tongue. I ate a bowl of Spaghetti-Os earlier today.

What I want to know is does anyone have good recipes for veggie-blended goodness? Specifically beans for protein/fiber.

beans can be cooked in a variety of ways, whichever dish you prefer is subjective of course. Bean and lentil soup is probably one of the best way to eat beans without too much fat/cholesterol. Chili is fine as long as it's done with extra lean ground beef (and for extra protein, you can easily add 2-3 different kinds of beans). Baked beans with pure Québec maple syrup is probably the holy grail of bean dishes, as it delivers a fantastic pork fat flavor to accommodate the fantastic maple syrup flavor, which has been proven to prevent cancer and diabetes.

For a healthier approach, you can make bean salads. Just cook your beans and toss them in a leafy mixture with a nutty vinaigrette and you're all set.

Baked beans w/ pork fat and Quebec maple syrup SPECIFICALLY has been proven to prevent cancer and diabetes? Or is it any maple syrup? I've never been a fan of baked beans with pork in them, and because of my situation, the less things that can get caught in my teeth, the better, so meats in general are kind of out of the question. But I know that syrup and pork go hand in hand, so I believe you.

                          This morning's milkshake:
                          1 cup blueberries
                          1 cup milk
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
                          1 banana

For lunch, I'm planning on this:
                          2 cups chopped tomato
                          1/2 cup V8/tomato juice
                          1/2 cup carrots
                          1/4 cup apple juice
                          1/4 cup chopped celery
                          Dash of tobasco and sriracha

And on the note of sriracha, I want to try making an asian-influenced smoothie of sorts, the only ingredients I can think of are orange, caramelized onions, soy & teriyaki sauce. Any suggestions kommisar?

                              Re: Food Thread

Kommisar is going to dominate this thread with his superb knowledge of food. I learned how to make macaroni and cheese out of the box three months ago. He's definitely ahead of me lmao

But it doesn't mean I don't enjoy good food. I'm very specific about food (not picky, just critical) and I do like to compliment someone when they've created something I really like. My neighbor's family is mexican and his mom sent me some of her home made picadillo (non spicy, I can't stans spicy) three days ago. I didn't even ask for it, but she knew I had liked it when I told her how rich it was in flavor.

Anyway, I'm really interested in Kommisar's ideas and opinions in this thread.

                              tl'dr people- KOMMISAR KNOWS FOOD
