LaTeX lets you write with high quality typesets and even charts/tables/graphs/etc. It produces very aesthetically-pleasing work.

The HTML panel is meant to just poke fun at HTML in general as being dull and lame

I tried to use LaTeX once. It was like trying to play Dwarf Fortress except with a higher difficulty curve.

I think the C++ one is meant to poke fun at the huge number of includes/forms you usually need to invoke -- either that or multiplatform compatibility
