    Re: Laundry

Making laundry is easy, I don't see why people make such a big deal out of it. You don't really put any effort into it, it's just get the clothes and put em in the washing machine that's it.

Come back in 50 minutes via elevator. Move clothes to dryer. Waste another $2.50. Leave via elevator.

Next apartment I get is going to have the fucking washer and dryer IN the damned apartment itself. Laundry is my least favorite thing to do. I try to get away with doing it maybe once every 2 weeks or so.
Different experiences, I live in a house so that wouldn't be much of a problem with the whole moving floors thing

      Re: Laundry

Laundry isn't a pain if you have a washer/dryer at home. But having to go to a laundromat sucks. I would hate having to go in the summer in the like 90 degree weather most of those places didn't even have a fan in them x.x And I wouldn't leave my stuff there because I just don't trust people lol so I had to sit there the whole time.

But otherwise when I have access to a washer/dryer in my home I don't mind doing it at all. Put it in walk away come back in like an hour and switch no biggie.

Don't you already pay an astronomical amount for rent anyway? The least they could do is leave you with a bucket and a washboard.

I prefer laundry when I'm camping: get fully clothed, jump into the lake with a bar of soap, and go hard at any stains. Problem solved.

Yep! That's NYC for ya. I'm probably moving to Jersey in a year to a one-bedroom with my gf where we have laundry in our actual apartment and not on a separate floor.

Though the thing about NYC: i'd imagine the job pay supplements the high cost of living?

For me, I can't really say my laundry routine yet because i'm in the transition process of moving and the new place uses coin laundry; which is either $1.00 or 25 cents, either way I have to go outside to get it. I'll have a better post after doing a load there.

Depends on who you ask. There are plenty of people here with shitty incomes/wages who have to get by with less. You need to earn at least six figures just to make middle class (I make well over 100k and I'm still pretty strapped), and it's not easy to come by that kind of work unless you're very good at what you do. The tradeoff is that NYC has damn near everything you could ask for... assuming you can pay for it. The city can get pretty fast-paced and stifling sometimes, but when you leave it... you get this inclination to want to claw your way back because everything else is just so boring and slow in comparison.

A ton of people here actually send their laundry out to have it cleaned. I haven't personally tried this but really have no plans to.

You guys have odd washing machines if they take an hour O.o my washer takes less than a half hour and my dryer just about the same, I get done a load in an hour.
