ok, ive got a serious problem with my normal computer. i get this following error everytime i get to the user login screen in xp.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

after i click ok, i log onto my user name for xp, and whenever i try to run ANYTHING it comes up with the exact same error but instead of it saying
Program:C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe
it says whatever the path to the exe im tryin to open is. please someone help me fix my comp, i really wanna play some cs and ffr without it laggin so bad i cant see anything..
ps. when i play ffr on this laptop, i have to press the arrow when its half way down the screen to get a perfect, thats how much it lags :/

Sounds like you got a virus that deleted a vital file needed for win XP to run.

No, svchost.exe is something dealing with your internet, so if that gets screwed then bye bye internet.

alright, im currently clearing my cache like kilga said to, i might have to slick my comp tho :/ hope not

edit : just cleared cache, seems to not have done anything :/

All you have to do is just get you Windows XP cd, search for the svchost.exe file in it using search built into Windows XP, then copy that into the folder specified above:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\

I had something similar happen to me once...

Hope it works and if you can not find your cd and it is not a huge file I will zip and you can get it...

I had that problem once. You know I did? I just started shuting down vital programs to the windows operating system. I ended a one of the many SVCHOST.EXE and I got this pop-up saying "Windows hates you and your family, windows will shut down now."

And so it did. And when I restarted it I have no internet, no sound, no fancy XP skin, nothing. So I burned all my files onto a a couple dozen CDs and prepared to reformat. It turns out everything was just disabled.... I turned everything back on, happy end.
