    Save your pop tabs! (:

Saving pop tabs will help generate proceeds to the Ronald McDonald house. The house provides seriously ill children and their families a place to stay while they are out of town for medical treatment.

I was also going to tell you all to save your plastic bottle caps to help kids receive 1 hour of free chemo...it seems that's a myth though =(

Reliable site that gives insight on pop tab rumor:
Rumor has it that pull tabs from aluminum cans have special redemption value for time on dialysis machines.

**Ronald McDonald still accepts pop tabs...but as stated, it would be far more helpful collecting the actual cans.

1 pop tab is approximately 1 inch long
1,267 pop tabs make 1 pound
1 pound of aluminum can be sold for approximately 40¢
So it takes 315 dollars of soda to make 40 cents, assuming a can of soda is around 25 cents when bought in a 12 pack. Why not recycle the whole can?

In fact, the only reason -any- places accept popcan tabs as donations is because of how persistant the myth is that anywhere can trade them in for more than the 40 cents for a pound of aluminum Izzy referenced above.

Ronald McDonald house is getting not one penny more for recycling the tabs than you would if you did it, and they'd still be better off overall to get whole cans.

I was reading up on this tab myth a little bit ago when someone came up to me and asked me for my tab. Apparently people think the tab contains a purer aluminum which is worth more. This though is not true
