"is any human act more mysterious (and more beautiful) than prayer?" - philip zaleski
we as human beings have an innate sense of the divine (i.e. the ineffable - that which fills us with speechless awe and wonder). throughout our collective history we have made it a priority to grasp at and understand the world around us. but more importantly, we have tried to understand our inner-world. by inner-world i mean what drives our consciousness, thoughts, desires, etc.
i just feel that getting in tune with, or tapping into, our spiritual side is something that is worth doing. the various faith traditions that exist today have vast, vast reservoirs of knowledge that should be studied and practiced/applied with diligence. personally, it fills me with utmost joy to read/hear about the different ways that people have developed in "practicing the presence of god."
have no doubt about it: humankind's deepest desire is happiness. and i believe that one of religion's main functions is to promote a way for us to create happiness!

Actually I love this argument. I can completely agree with your desire and joy over this. I continue to pursue my spiritual side. I feel it but I can't understand the what or why of it though. I need to talk to you more on this sometime, you're far more in-tune than I am. You have enlightened me. I never looked at it that way.
I can't reply properly to this cause it's awesome. XD
