    Modern LIVE AID?

Being the 25th anniversary of LIVE AID will be on 13 July 2010, do you think there should be a modern LIVE AID on that date?

Measuring the $283.6 million in 1985 would become around $567.5 million in 2008.

Live AID is exactly the same as that concert Bono basically ran to raise funds for a cure for aids, except Live AID is to try and end famine I think. I think it would be great if they had another one.

I'd 90% sure of a no. They already did something like that in 2005 called "live 8", where they did it in the big G8 countries... and again in my beloved city in Philadelphia.... with very mediocre results if I recall.

Traditionally, they hate doing benefit concerts in my beloved Philly as we tend to be resoundingly rude to the tourists and the hippy singers who say things like "This is your Woodstock!!" Go ahead, get the DVD. You'll notice some thinly laced boo's over certain sections of happy-wispy music and sometimes they'll be edited out completely. Its pretty funny.

Plus these charitors/stoners make a mess of the place, so the city doesn't like to host something where they have to spend as much on cleaning up as they made in tourism. It'd be very unceremonious if they did it somewhere else to celebrate the anniversary.
