    Your Very First Computer

Hey, everyone! Miss me? Yeah, didn't think so... >.<

Anyway, I felt like posting something here, and I'm in a nostalgic mood. I got to thinking about my very first computer, but couldn't even remember what it was other than that it was a Tandy that could run Windows 95.

After about an hour's worth of searching, I discovered that it was a Tandy 2500 (apparently a 386 clone?), complete with the original VGM-220 monitor and the matrix printer, too. It originally came with Windows 3.0, but my uncle somehow rigged it to run Win95. Had VGA graphics, hard disk was around 40MB, and I believe the RAM was 4MB...

So I asked my grandparents about it earlier today, they bought it at RadioShack in late 1993 / early 1994 for "three times what that new Windows 7 computer cost us".

I first got my hands on it in 1996, when my grandmother bought a "blazing fast" 133Mhz computer. She had no need for two machines, so she gave the Tandy to me, at the time, a four-year-old.
I used it until late 2000 / early 2001. My later grade school teachers poked fun at me for turning in homework assignments on dot-matrix paper.
One thing I significantly remember was turning it on one day shortly after Y2K, and the date reading "Saturday, October 1, 1988"

Those interested in pictures, these are the closest ones I could find. They're actually of a modified 1000RLX, but it's similar to my grandparents' 90s office setup. The monitor is the same model, and I think we even had ugly blue speakers like that. Link: http://www.oldskool.org/guides/tvdog/RLRLX.html ... Specifically this photo: http://www.oldskool.org/guides/tvdog...SetupLarge.jpg

So, yeah, a bit of a run there. I know some dumb troll's going to post "cool story bro" or something like that, but anyone else, post what your first computer is. I know there's people here older than me, and I'm excited to hear...

tl;dr: Post a description of the first computer you ever used.

I don't remember what kind my first PC was, but it had a 5 inch floppy drive. I also have a computer with a zip drive. Yea.. A zip drive. That thing was way ahead of it's time but never cought on because the CD killed it.

I *think* it was an old Apple II. The graphics/text were entirely in green and black, and to play games, I had to insert those huge 5-inch floppies. The power button looked really cool -- sleek and green like a gem or something. I don't remember what ended up happening to it, haha.

My first computer was just a greyish yellow box with a white button to turn it on, then an orange one to restart it. It ran DOS and my dad thought he was haxxor when he made the background blue instead of black. I remember asking him for the secret passwords to run games. Past that I have every other computer from my past in my basement for spare parts.

              I remember my first computer...got it in 1996. I believe I was 7 or 8 years old.

Had a 1.2 GB hard drive with a 166 MHz Processor and ran Win95. I don't remember how much RAM it had. 2 or 4 MBs, I imagine. 3.5 inch floppy drive and actually had a CD tray installed.

Good times. That was ****in 13 years ago, holy **** I am old.

Pre-built Compaq Presario in the early 90's, no clue about the specs but it was totally awesome at the time running Red Alert and Total Annihilation and Age of Empires and stuff.

Some Dell computer, I only played Age of Wonders, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, Heroes of Might and Magic III, and some other games. On the iMac G3 in my room, I had the dark blue one, I just played these and screwed around with Kid Pix.

Some old computer running 95, then 98, then XP. Needless to say, it ran SLOWLY.

I miss the old days of playing Wolf3D/Spear of Destiny/Doom/Commander Keen/Lemmings/etc. Very fun games to get started on Of course, I also tinkered around with a spattering of Demos as a young boy, because they were easy to access.
