I predict Rio gets this one -- the IOC can only ignore South America for so long.


The only downsides are that Rio is hard to get around, and it's a fairly dangerous place. But I still think it'll win, and I think they'll have to simply up the security.

I knew Chicago wasn't going to get it. I have to say though, I was somewhat surprised to see Tokyo last longer than we did.

All the bids were pretty strong but I found Chicago's bid to have a lacking speech factor. They didn't speak completely like they wanted the bid.

Rio's bid was actually quite nice. They should be the one to take it--not only that, but combined with the fact that South America has never hosted the games AND the fact that London will be hosting the games in 2012 (and Rome possibly trying to make a bid for 2020) makes it that much in their favor.

A Olympics in my country would be, at least, hilarious: millions and millions of reais spent to build over 9000 stadiums, hotels and stuff, government shouting "OH WOW, WE ARE AMAZING, WE BUILT AN 'OLYMPICS-ABLE' COUNTRY IN 5 YEARS!!1" and good part of the country dealing with floods, starvation, poor education...

Yeah, I want Rio to be chosen this year.
