    Weird speaker problems. Help please?

Well, this is the 5th or 6th time I've asked you guys for help. Worked every other time so here goes again!

My speakers will randomly fade from being really loud to being really quiet, and back up. I have this thing with a knob that controls the volume, and (just adding numbers for this example) I usually had it on around 40, but now its on 1, with the volume 40 used to have. However, when it fades, it goes to what 1 should be, but then it goes back up to 40 without me touching the knob.

I don't think its the speakers themselves, they arent very old and I dont blast my music at ridiculous levels, and this randomly started in the middle of a song last night.

So, I think its some problem with the computer/speaker connection, however, I've checked all my drivers, made sure everythings plugged in tight, and all that good stuff. So hopefully someone more computer savvy than I can help?

    Thanks again guys =D

I have no idea if this will help, I don't think it will to be honest, but I have that type of problem on my PC. Is what I actually have to do is plug in my headphones like half way so I can still hear my music out the speakers & it works perfectly lol

Does it also happen when you try it with a different pair of speakers or headphones?

Answer: Buy brand new surround sound speakers from your nearest Best Buy.

          Vanilla - Nope, didn't help =P. But I tried lol. Thanks ^_^

Blu - No, its not happening through headphones.. so I guess it is my speakers, I just don't know what would cause them to be louder than normal.. Isnt that the opposite of what usually happens when speakers are dying?

OneHand - I'd love to do that, however the gas money it will take to get to a Best Buy, or a mall, or anything from where I live would cost more than the speakers themselves. Oh well, Massachusetts sucks xD

It probably is Vista ._. ... Friggin hate Vista with a passion. And I'll look at the jacks. All 3 of them ._.

What pisses me off is this happened for absolutely no reason. It was fine, I wasnt doing anything I don't usually do (Which is nothing) and all of a sudden it starts doing weird things. lulz, probably because I havnt listened to anything at all but Coheed and Cambria for nearly a month. Claudio's breaking mah speakers with that voice

You could try readjusting the sound card. I had loads of speaker troubles until I did that. It was loose.
